Laoag City, Philippines – The Covid-19 crisis and restrictions prompted a team of young, brilliant and innovative Narvacaneos to come up with the business idea to bring a solution to the needs while helping some of their kailian (kababayan) progress. SCiVER, the leading software company in Ilocandia, collaborated with the team and a comprehensive one-stop market platform was developed that will cater to product suppliers, food vendors, restaurants and fast-food chains in the district.

Filipinas Bundoc, Tiendaan CEO and Founder said, “When Community Quarantine was announced, a lot of people were panic buying, and some farmers were panic selling. Supermarkets were crowded, yet farmers were almost bankrupt. There was a huge mismatch between demand and supply. Never again would I want people in the rural areas be paralyzed by the pandemic”.  Macgyver Quilinderino, Director of Sciver  added that, “Tiendaan was built with the aim to help small and medium enterprises emerge strong from the economic onslaught of the pandemic. As we move towards a digital economy in response to the health risks involved with the traditional business processes, small businesses are being left behind. Tiendaan was created to bridge that gap. Every peso you spend on, is a peso bought from a struggling business. You don’t just order from merchants, you are helping someone make a living in this difficult time.” Tiendaan was launched on September 28, 2020.

Tiendaan is an app-based online marketplace for local merchants to sell their products to local consumers. It is based in Narvacan Town of Ilocos Sur with a goal to help small businesses thrive by giving them a platform where they can increase their visibility and market while providing consumers the convenience to buy their needs online, when they need them.  Its services are available in Ilocos Sur and Abra and soon in Zambales. Merchants can sell products, be it fresh produced, ready to consume food and drinks, or other types of merchandise. Merchants will be able to digitally transact with their loyal customers through the Tiendaan app, which features an online shopping system with electronic payment and delivery services—all in one portal. It is available both in iOS and Android.
